Text Color Gotchas

Gotcha: Overuse of Colors

Problem: Using too many different text colors can be jarring and reduce readability.

This is an example of using far too many different text colors within a single block of text . It looks very chaotic .

Solution: Use color sparingly and purposefully. Stick to a limited palette.

A better approach involves using standard text color like text-gray-700 for most content, and then selectively applying color for emphasis or critical alerts .

Gotcha: Poor Contrast & Accessibility

Problem: Poor contrast between text color and background color makes text hard to read, which is a major accessibility issue.

Examples of Poor Contrast:

This light blue text ( text-blue-400 ) on a light blue background ( bg-blue-200 ) is very hard to read.

This medium gray text ( text-gray-500 ) on a light gray background ( bg-gray-300 ) also lacks sufficient contrast.

Examples of Good Contrast:

This darker blue text ( text-blue-700 ) on the same light blue background ( bg-blue-200 ) is much clearer.

Black text ( text-black ) on a light gray background ( bg-gray-300 ) provides excellent contrast.
